On Homeward Bound on Tuesday 25 March from 4.00pm with Bill Morris, The Once guest on the programme for a chat and a session ahead of their gig Live at the Star in Glasgow.
The Once is a folk/roots trio based out of St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada and they are currently on a UK spring tour. From their beginnings as three actors who also loved to sing together, The Once has embraced a different vision of Newfoundland music. Their sounds do not come from the noisy pubs and dockside taverns that fuel so much of the Island’s energy. Instead, their music comes from a quieter and more thoughtful place.
The group features Geraldine Hollett on lead vocals and vocalists/instrumentalists, Phil Churchill and Andrew Dale playing a variety of instruments.
The Once performs a mix of original and traditional material and are often noted for what one reviewer calls their “gorgeous three part harmonies,” which are sometimes performed a capella.
The Once play Live at the Star, The Admiral, 72a Waterloo Street, Glasgow G2 7DA on Tuesday 25 March from 8.00pm.
Homeward Bound with Bill Morris, Tuesday 25 March 4.00-6.00pm.
