Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist SAMANTHA MAYA has announced the release of her latest single The Observer Effect pt. II, under the moniker Maya’s Radio Orchestra.
Set for release on Friday 29 March, the track is a deeply personal and emotive exploration of Maya’s creative process and her experience with chronic illness as a teenager.
The single, which brings in classical and alt-folk elements, is composed entirely on the violin and was created in her own Glasgow flat, where she performed, recorded, mixed and mastered the track herself.
Since graduating from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Samantha has become recognised for her introspective music with dense harmonies and classical instrumentation which delves into personal themes.
She performs with a number of bands including The Willow Trio and Catalyst Symphony Band and is also a session musician.
Samantha’s work has garnered attention from BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio 3 and various music publications, while her captivating performances at prestigious events such as Celtic Connections, AMPLIFI and Sofar Sounds showcase her talent and versatility.
You can hear her talk about it all with Ian Oliphant on the Afternoon Selection, starting at 2 pm on Monday, March 25.
