Teddy Thompson and Sarah Jarosz – Celtic Connections – City Halls – January 20, 2024

There are some singers that you could listen to until the end of time and who always leave you wanting more – this is precisely the case with TEDDY THOMPSON.

Possessing one of the most versatile, magnificent voices today, Teddy performed songs from his latest release, “My Love Of Country”, an album of classic country songs by the likes of Dolly Parton, George Jones, Charlie Louvin and, of course, Hank Williams Sr.

Teddy had a stellar four-piece band with double bass, drums, keyboard, guitars and the pedal steel guitar which added to the authenticity. He sang one of his own classic songs solo followed by a great cover of his dad, Richard’s Persuasion and then a song dedicated to his gran who was from Glasgow.

For me, this concert was too short, but it was an inspiration to me as a singer and made me want to pick up my guitar and start singing country songs. I hope Teddy will return to Glasgow soon.

SARAH JAROSZ delighted and captivated with her strong vocals and marvellous musicianship, showing her incredible skills on guitar and banjo. She performed songs from her upcoming album “Polaroid Lovers” which is out on Friday.

These new songs were beautiful with catchy choruses and melodies, as well as gorgeous harmonies. Sarah did not disappoint and included some older songs with her backing band of double bass and guitars, who blended perfectly with Sarah’s sound.
