Sandy Semeonoff’s Planet Waves Returns to CMR on Last Tuesday of the month 6-8pm starting 28th May 2019
“Sandy Semeonoff returns to Celtic Music Radio on Tuesday 28th May with his programme Planet Waves 6-8pm .
Sandy was brought up in a house full of 78 rpm shellac records, then worked for many years at BBC Scotland as a record librarian and as a producer and presenter on pop, folk, country and world music programmes. All this time he’s been listening out for music that’s new and exciting or old and unusual but always with an emphasis on rootsy and acoustic sounds.
For ten years Planet Waves went out weekly, but this time it’s going to be a monthly two-hour show between 1800 and 2000 on the last Tuesday of the month, then available for four weeks on Listen Again – Tuesday Early Evening .
The music on programme #1 includes brand-new folk from Scotland and Sweden, a Georgian choir recorded in 1912, cutting-edge electronic music from Congo-Kinshasa and Greece as well as sacred singing from Pakistan and the USA.
So for a rare and eclectic mix of mainly acoustic music from all around the world try Planet Waves. Last Tuesday of the month. 1800 hours. Here on Celtic Music Radio.”
