‘Routes Writes And Performs A Combination Of Contemporary Compositions And Innovative Arrangements Of Traditional Music. The Ensemble Bridges The Gap Between Classical And Folk Music; Exploring The Vast Textures, Tones And Intimate Musical Qualities Which Are Characteristic Of A String Quartet’.

Formed in Glasgow, Spring 2014 by Emma Tomlinson (Viola), Gráinne Brady (Violin), Tricia Mullan (Violin) and Rufus Huggan (Cello)

Gráinne Brady – Fiddle – from Co Cavan now living in Glasgow – keen composer working on various projects and collaborations – with The Top Floor Taivers and a duo with Tina Jordan Rees and also with  Ryan Murphy . Part of The Fraser Shaw Trust’s album Mac Ìle- the Music of Fraser Shaw Launch 27 June

Tricia Mullan –  from East Kilbride with Donegal Roots with an Oregon slant ! Graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland , gigs as a solo artist around Scottish Festivals as well as with quartet

Emma Tomlinson-Viola  from Liverpool – classically trained on the violin and the viola was a member of the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra & a Graduate of Keele University as well as with several Quartets in Liverpool till a fiddle weekend Fèis Gleann Albainn – led her to folk music and as the say the rest is history.

Rufus Huggan – Chello – From Lochaber now based in Glasgow a graduate of the RSC a classically trained cellist who has blended this with folk blues to stunning effect . Has recently released a CD with the trio SnuffBox
