The Black Guards

On Tuesday’s 16  May show , I will also be having a chat with lead singer of The Black Guards  – Paul O’Halloran re their four track self-penned debut EP, Drawn In, It has been produced by Lauren Deakin Davies and will be released on Folkstock Records   on 26 th May 2017.- so you will get a preview here! Also looking forward to catching up with them at The Eden Festival on 9 June!(thank Helen (Folkstock) for the heads up!)

The band’s introduction in their own words!

“Paul O’Halloran (lead singer and guitar) who left his native Dublin after admitting in Confession he was their greatest song writing Centre Forward, Paul McGhee (lead guitar and banjo) who successfully ingratiated himself into the Manchester Musical Intelligentsia in order to promote The West Cumbrian Sound, Anne Marie McStraw (fiddle, pipes and mandolin), who almost successfully campaigned that anyone unable to play violin be expelled from all political parties, which quickly prompted political activist Ben Sloan to seek out & study the largest of their kind, the double-bass, and sensing the tide was changing, accordionist & pirate Owen Evans swept in to nullify this corrupt & roguish sound, whilst the temperance beats & tribal grooves of Andrew Bates (drums) celebrated this spiritual & soul purging movement in music.”

Can’t wait to hear them live at Eden Festival 9 June  ! best of luck with the debut EP and looking forward to the album which is due out in the Autumn !
