Studio Guest Pauline Vallance on We 12th June at 12pm on Ian Oliphant’s Lunch Time Selections
Pauline Valance is based in Glasgow had played flute for many years, in orchestras and in folk sessions but was introduced to the clarsach in 2007 and discovered the instrument she was born to play! Pauline said ‘Suddenly I could sing and play at the same time (something that’s a bit tricky with the flute). It then inspired me to start writing songs.’
In 2009, she won the Glasgow Songwright Festival competition with the song, ‘This Working Life’. Performing in Folk Clubs such as Leith, Nitten, Clydesdale, Houston, Falkirk and Quarter Folk Clubs as well as Festivals also performed in 2012 for the first time Edinburgh Fringe Show at the Acoustic Music Centre at St. Bride’s adding to her growing fan base across Scotland.
She is also part of the Celtic trio, Caim, along with Heather Innes and Jacynth Hamill. In 2017, Paulineand Heather had wonderful tours in Canada and Australia, particular highlights being performing on a riverboat in Kuranda and at a Surf Club releasing their first CD as a trio – Red Winged Blackbird – which features 5 of Paulines songs as well as a lovely array of Scottish and Irish songs.
