Sadly due to bereavement Mary will not be appearing on Stewart’s show today out thoughts are with her and her family at this time.

 

 

Mary Kathleen Burke will be guesting live on Stewart Fenwick’s Celtic Country next Sunday, October 11th 12 Noon-2pm to talk about her new album ‘Sweet Is The Melody’.

 

 

Mary Kathleen Burke originally from County Derry, Northern Ireland came to music as many did by family gatherings and parties where the music flowed, giving her a grand grounding in her love and passion for the music.  By the age of 15 Mary had learned to play the guitar and keyboards and took the ‘country music road’ in a band.

Moving to Scotland as a young lass see then took on a solo career with mainly Irish and Scottish folk and roots music and started songwriting. Giging an guesting with top Scottish artists she has built up a true fan base here and abroad.

Her first album in 2008 ‘A Song In Her Heart’ was met with much critical acclaim and included seasoned musicians – David McNee/ Austin Ince/Paul McKenna/ Frankie Hepburn/ Chuck Fleming/ Tim O’Connor/ Jay Hepburn / John Cassidy / Alastair McCulloch/ Gordon McCulloch/ Duncan Lyall.

Her   new album ‘Sweet Melody’ containing her interpretation of some great country songs from artist that Mary loves and appreciates, it also includes two co writes ‘Ireland I Miss You’ and ‘Glasgow’.  Some of the artists/ friends who were on this project was Gerry O’Brian / Lar Kenny/ Michael and Donna Cloke/ Joe Davitt /Arnold Smyth and Seamus McGowan her manager.

The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Gerry O’Brian in Midikid Studios in Arklow, Co Wicklow.
