This week”s Album of the Week is Nothing = Everything from Sharon King and the Reckless Angels.
This is the first Sharon King and the Reckless Angels CD, and we are very chuffed indeed with it
14 years of Sharon singing and songwriting has evolved through her debut CD 24 Hours (1999) to working with a pool of players known as The Nevernever Cowboys and, in turn, creating albums: Quiddity (2002) and Reckless Angels (2009).
The Reckless Angels trio has evolved slowly and organically, its roots found in Sharon and Vera meeting at Shetland Folk Festival in 2002, working together on Reckless Angels in 2009 and touring as a duo, the addition of Scottish fiddler Amy in Spring 2011 completed the line up: small but beautifully formed.
Nothing = Everything is receiving 4 star rave reviews from national publications as well as being album of the week (and month) on local and internet radio. The Scottish tour was an unmitigated success with packed houses and soaring CD sales.
R2″s Rachel Devine says:
**** “This gem of an album… is one of those increasingly rare records that presents a musical arc with a cohesive beginning, middle and end and a sense of ambition to tell stories that stick in the imagination…. fragile harmonies delicately wrapped in some excellent fiddle, mandolin and guitar playing… King pulls you into her world and it is a lovely place to be.”
