Celtic Country is one of the original programmes, dating from from Celtic Music Radio’s first special event broadcasts from Celtic Connections back in 2006. The show reached it's 500th programme in November 2017. In that time, Stewart had played 2342 different Country artists from around the world, including 181 from Scotland.

Because of the current Covid-19 restrictions the format for the 2021 Danny Kyle Open Stage will be completely different. With Liz Clark at the helm, Celtic Music Radio will broadcast the show between 5pm and 7pm over the course of the festival, playing three recordings from each act. As in previous years, judges will choose 6 acts to go through to the final.

Since 2015 David has presented ‘Sounds Irish’ which is produced by his wife Anne Marie. The show has featured music, news, interviews and recorded concerts featuring many of the major stars of Irish Country and new emerging artists.
