The Manran and Bodega front man Norrie MacIver opened this concert with his new band which was predominantly half Manran and half Skerryvore. With Alec Daglish (lead guitar) and Alan Crombie (piano) from Skerryvore and Norrie Maciver (vocals & acoustic guitar), Ross Saunders (bass), Scott MacKay (drums) from Manran the only exception was Megan Henderson on fiddle.
Norrie has built up a cult following over the years, a lot of which were at this gig to support him in his new venture. He did not disappoint them. With a variety of songs in gaelic and English this was a powerful performance. Most songs were penned by himself which shows the talent this young man has.
by his backing band, Norrie MacIver left the audience wanting for more as they had enjoyed it so much. I’m sure they will all be scrambling for a copy of his debut solo album which will be due out later this year.
