The Celtic Music Radiothon started on Friday 3 August with Ross Macfadyen on the Thank Folk its Friday programme with a host guests, messages of support from folk stars and two parliamentary motions!
The event has already attracted some of Scotland’s top folk and traditional musicians support from Barbara Dickson, Mary Ann Kennedy, Dougie MacLean, Eric Bogle, Brian McNeil, Sheena Wellington, Lori Watson and Ian Bruce.
In addition, both Hugh Henry MSP and Sandra White MSP have lodged motions in the Scottish Parliament in support of Celtic Music Radio.
Hugh Henry MSP’s motion states “Parliament notes the success of Celtic Music Radio, which is one of the most listened to radio stations in the UK; believes it is an important ambassador in promoting Scotland, its music and its culture; welcome the world wide audience it attracts through its web stream; congratulates Celtic Music Radio on being awarded a licence to move to the FM waveband; and hopes that its fundraising Celtic Music Radiothon starting on 3rd August is a success.”
