Ian Oliphant shows
Ian started broadcasting with Glasgow’s Hospital Broadcasting Service. His first “on-air” broadcasts were with KLT, a short-term licence station. He spent 1 year with East End Radio. One year later he joined Q96 and spent almost 4 years with them.
He joined Pulse Community Radio when it started in 2009 and remained there until 2015. During this time, he was also a presenter on Eklipse Sports Radio, which became Rocksport. He was a presenter on that station from 2014 until early 2016.
Ian joined Celtic Music Radio at the end of 2016 and his first show was early in 2017.
He regularly presents the Lunchtime Selection on Wednesdays from 12 noon till 2 pm and you may also hear him deputising for other presenters when they’re on holiday.
Ian has interviewed many well-known Celtic musicians and has also had a number of acts playing live including Journey North, Raging Twilight, Alistair McCulloch, Robbie Greig and Jack Badcock, Skinner & T’Witch and the OK Amigos. Ian has guests on his show as often as he can as he believes that it makes a significant contribution to the promotion of Celtic music.
Ian regards involvement with Celtic Music Radio as both an adventure and an education, and he says, “there are always things to learn; anything from new acts to the working of the station’s playout system”.
