The Dirty Beggars are an outfit from central Scotland with the music of the Appalachians running in their blood. Five boys born in the wrong country, their brand of down and dirty bluegrass has been electrifying crowds all over the UK. Comprising of guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and double bass,
The Dirty Beggars are one-of-a-kind in the UK, blasting out the tunes made popular in the 21st century by the bluegrass revival as well as their own growing repertoire of their own compositions and songs.
In the past year, The Dirty Beggars have gone from strength to strength, having landed two high profile slots at Celtic Connections, which have in turn landed them a series of four dates in London and support slots for well known acts and the successful honky-tonk outfit The Wilders. The band have just released their debut album Bite the Bullet which features 10 original tracks
The Chaplins are a rootsy Americana band based in Glasgow and were one of the winners of The Danny Kyle Stage at Celtic Connections 2014.
Shortly after forming they were asked to join the much-loved Runrig on their Re-Wired tour which saw them playing to audiences in sold out concert halls and arenas across the UK and Europe. The Chaplins won the hearts of many thousands and were Runrig’s most successful support act to date, selling out of their debut EP ‘Introducing The Chaplins’. Since then they have been touring extensively around the UK and developing a fast growing fan base.
The band members are accomplished musicians in their own right who together as a unit create a distinctive sound with soaring harmonies and foot stomping music. Seeing them perform live is an event you’ll never forget. Their timeless feel will appeal to all – eight or eighty you will find yourself mesmerised by this outstanding band.
They are by no means a band singing old time country songs about dogs, heartbreak and front porches. Jill has produced perfectly crafted, meaningful songs with unforgettable melodies and poignant lyrics and with the help of Lisa, Johnny and John these songs are beautifully brought to life.
Cabaret Amber live from Amber Central, Thursday 30 October 2014, 5.00-7.00pm and Catch Up anytime.
