Klaus Adamsachek & Tom Fairnie – Still Dreaming
Written by celtic music radio on April 13, 2024
Klaus Adamaschek was born in the mining town of Gelsenkirchen in the heart of the Ruhr area. He started writing his own songs at the age of 12, influenced by great role models such as Bob Dylan, and Kris Kristofferson and German singer-songwriters as Reinhard Mey and Hannes Wader. During his teacher training he made his first appearances as a German-speaking singer-songwriter.
In 1985, a 20-year break from music began, during which he concentrated fully on his professional work. His professional life’s work then became the ecological school camp and environmental education center in Licherode, which he managed as managing director from 1993 to 2013 and developed into one of the leading German environmental centers and a UNESCO project.
In 2005, actually at the peak of his professional career, Klaus Adamaschek rediscovered his love for folk music and songwriting. He initially writes songs in English, shaped by the authentic experiences of exciting years of life and the love for his second wife Angelika. His stage name “Shiregreen” means something like green Shire and is reminiscent of the home of the hobbits in Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings”
Tom Fairnie’s style of writing cuts across Americana, folk, country and blues and he tries to write melodic, accessible songs that make the best use of his guitar skills to provide sensitive uncluttered arrangements.
Tom Fairnie lives in Scotland, Klaus Adamaschek in Germany – both are experienced singer songwriters whose styles cut across Americana, folk, country and blues in a melodic, uncluttered, acoustic guitar framework.
Tom is a stalwart of the Edinburgh folk and poetry scene, and has released 5 solo albums and 1 jointly with Klaus. Klaus Adamaschek is a member of acclaimed German band Shiregreen, he has, so far, released 15 albums.
Still Dreaming is the duo’s second album.
