On this Sunday’s Stewart Fenwick Celtic Country Show at 12 noon, Stewart will be joined live in the studio by Janey Kirk who is one of the most established club singers in Scotland, but also has recorded a number of albums, including her latest release “Streets Of Loneliness”.
In recent times she has presented her own programme on Showcase TV, and has just started her own radio programme in Fife on Kirkcaldy based K107 as well as a concert tour with Derek Ryan.
Scottish born singing chanteus Janey Kirk started singing professionally at the age of six. At that young age she was whisked away every weekend to perform at various functions across Fife and beyond.
By the time she left school she had a following of fans who came to see her five nights a week at two local venues. Janey joined a teen band named ” Hi-Lite” and served a good apprenticeship for three years touring Scotland.
More recently, Janey is now recording a brand new album with Jerry Donahue, who was a huge part of the folk music scene in the 1970/80’s with Fairport Convention and Fotheringay. This album has a line up of high profile players and is all self penned songs leaning towards a more modern country genre and is one to look out for.
