Hamish Douglas Burgess’ weekly show based in Maui, Hawaii is on Celtic Music Radio 95 FM starting this Tuesday 12 August at 11.00am.
Hamish plays two hours of the best Celtic music from around the planet and travels to many countries interviewing musicians for the programme and often has interview clips with the top traditional Celtic musicians and folk singers.
From an Old Aberdeen Scottish family, Hamish Douglas Burgess grew up in Cornwall and now lives on the island of Maui, where he has promoted Scottish culture for the last 14 years.
He is the owner of Maui Celtic, a Celtic goods retail company as well as an organisation which is a cross-cultural link for music events, genealogy, Celtic art and heritage. His website is a resource and archive for all things Scottish and Celtic in Hawaii.
Hamish was honoured to be named The Caledonian Society of Hawaii’s ‘Scot of the Year’ for 2010, for services to the Scottish/Hawaiian community.
As Scottish Ambassador for The Princess Ka’iulani Project, Hamish also took the story of Hawaii’s most beloved Hawaii/Scot back to her father’s homeland in 2009, where he was a featured guest on Celtic Music Radio as well a contributor to Scottish national newspapers. He also reports freelance on Scottish events for Hawaii and mainland newspapers.
As a piper, Hamish has visited Piping Live! in Glasgow and has been interviewed on Celtic Music Radio.
