The Glasgow St Patrick’s Day Festival Chairman and Project Manager of The Irish Heritage Foundation Danny Boyle, will join Mary K Burke in the studio this Sunday 4 March from 7.00pm with an act from the Festival programme.
The week long Glasgow St Patrick’s Day Festival runs from Saturday 10 to 17 March 2012.
Project manager Danny Boyle says: “The festival reaches its 6th birthday this year and an acknowledgement of the dedication, foresight and hard work of previous committees is appropriate. The festival now has a solid foundation and a positive relationship with Glasgow City Council education department which enables us to showcase Irish heritage in Glasgow to over 800 Glasgow School Children and hold a public concert in the salubrious City Halls on Tuesday the 13 March at 7.00pm.
The Glasgow St. Patrick’s Festival has looked to build on the success of previous years and continue to showcase Irish heritage in Glasgow within the relevant time of St. Patrick’s week and in doing so continue the consensus that Irish Culture in Glasgow is dynamic, progressive, positive and an element of cultural identity in Glasgow that the city and community in general can participate in and be proud of.”
Artists appearing at the festival include Daoiri Farrell Band (Dublin), Michael McGoldrick Quartet (Manchester), Grainne Holland (Belfast), Maeve Mackinnon, Jill Jackson, Colin McAllister, Paul McKenna and Zuba Bass beat.
