Glasgow had its week long St Patrick’s Day festival and Celtic Music Radio was there to report and record many of the events taking place within the Merchant City areas.

The Glasgow St. Patrick’s Day festival esteems to promote and celebrate the rich Irish cultural heritage of Glasgow and Scotland.

On Trad with Pad on Tuesday evening at 6.00pm, one of the festival organisers, Paddy Callaghan will review the week’s events and play music recorded at many of the gigs and sessions.

The multi-generational Irish community in Scotland have through the year’s contributed positively to all sectors of Scottish Society. The cultural dynamics of Gaelic music, language, dance and sport have enjoyed and continue to foster a rich Irish identity and culture in Scotland. The festival looks to act as a vehicle to continue to celebrate this Irish tapestry while promoting and celebrating the cultural diversity of modern Scotland. Glasgow’s St. Patrick’s festival is open to all the citizens of Scotland.

The theme of this year’s festival is to raise both awareness and finance for the development of the Glasgow Irish Centre Project. The Glasgow Irish Centre project is supported by The St.Patrick’s Festival committee compromising the Irish Heritage Foundation, Conradh Na Gaeilge, Tir Conaill Harps GAA club, Glasgow area Comhaltas branch members and individual Irish community members with no group affiliation.

Trad with Pad, Tuesday 20 March 6.00-7.00pm and Catch Up anytime.
