This Easter Holiday Monday has as you would expect, several Celtic Music Radio concert recordings as holiday specials. They were recorded during Celtic Connections 2013.
Today, Monday 1 April at 4.00pm features a recording from Hazy Recollections at the ABC 02, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow on Sunday 27 January 2013. Performers are: Sarah Jarosz, Michael Cassidy, Jo Mango, Quick Beam and Randolph Sleep.
Although barely into her 20s, Texan-born singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Jarosz has already outgrown the teenage-prodigy tag – earned with a Grammy nomination for Song Up in Her Head, her debut album as an 18-year-old – and emerged as an artist of subtly compelling maturity. Her limpid yet husky vocals, soul-searching songcraft and artfully intertwined folk influences magically telescope the old-time and the contemporary. Listen today at 4.00pm on Celtic Music Radio hear for yourself.
At 7.00pm tonight, Monday 1 April, there is Celtic Connections 2013 – New Voices recorded at the Mitchell Theatre, Glasgow on Sunday 20 January 2013, this is New Voices Revisited with Duncan Lyall and Angus
The organisers and commisioners of Celtic Connections always hoped that the music created from the New Voices commissions will have a life beyond its Celtic Connections première, be it in further performances or in recorded form.
So it”s a double pleasure to present this live reprise of two highly-praised concerts from previous years – bassist Duncan Lyall”s Infinite Reflections, unveiled at Celtic Connections 2012, and accordionist Angus Lyon”s 2011 composition 3G – an occasion which also launches CD versions of each piece.
With both artists” ensembles sharing around half their line up – including Ali Hutton, Innes Watson and Alyn Cosker as well as Lyall and Lyon themselves – the celebratory spirit will be running high.
