‘Dreams We Never Lost’ Tide Lines – Album of The week 17 June 2017
Band Members :- Robert Robertson / Ross Wilson / Alasdair Turner / Fergus Munro
Tide Lines are a four piece band from Scotland who are heavily influenced by the traditional music of the West Highlands and Islands, but whose highly eclectic sound is driven by acoustic and electric guitars, with drums and keyboards, launched in 2016 and hit
‘Here is the debut album from Tide Lines – The 14-track CD is based around original material as well as a traditional Gaelic song and two tracks of dynamic bagpipe tunes. The songs within, eight of which are from the pen of lead singer Robert Robertson, deal with what it is to be young, what it was to be young, and the influence of place on the grace of youth.
The album also presents a discussion of the complex and wonderful relationship between the rural and the urban, the tranquil and the bustling, or (more specifically) that historic relationship between the band’s native Highlands and Islands, and their resident city of Glasgow. These lyrical themes are encapsulated in the album’s artwork – a specially commissioned painting by Daisy Williams (a young, award-winning artist from the island of Mull) whose piece perfectly captures the emotions of her recent life-changing move from the Hebrides to the bright lights of Glasgow.Featuring on the album are a number of talented guest musicians – including Anthony Thistlethwaite of The Saw Doctors and The Waterboys, whose saxophone and mandolin playing beautifully augment two of the tracks.’
