Darvel Music Festival Concert Series 27 – 28 Nov 2015
Friday 27 th November – internationally acclaimed Scottish singer/songwriter JJ Gilmour will headline this gig and will be appearing with his full band which includes ex-Silencers, Stevie and Phil Kane and also Graeme Duffin of Wet Wet Wet fame. JJ was also in the Silencers and made his recording debut with them in 1989. Multi-talented Sean C Kennedy will also be on the bill with his band. Since taking his first tentative steps into the studio, Irvine born Sean has been blessed with an enigmatic stage presence, which has brought him to the attention of many other artists/producers such as Andy Taylor of Duran Duran and Nik Kershaw. Local Irvine Valley band Jess and the Contesters complete this impressive line-up. The band has a lead female singer backed by the raw power of an experienced rock band.
Saturday 28th November – The amazing Celtic/rock sound of Skerryvore will once again reverberate around the Town Hall when the band headline this show. Tiree-born brothers Daniel Gillespie (accordion) and Martin Gillespie (bagpipes, whistles & accordion), Fraser West (drums & vocals) and Alec Dalglish (lead vocals & guitar), Craig Espie (fiddles), Alan Scobie (keyboards) and Jodie Bremaneson (bass) are sure to thrill the Darvel audience. Two excellent support acts will also be on the bill. Norrie MacIver is a singer/songwriter from Carloway in the Isle of Lewis, who is also the lead singer of award winning Gaelic Rock band, Mànran . Amy Baillie is a young singer/songwriter who has featured on the Scottish scene for the past few years, and has supported Donnie Munro, Mànran and Skerryvore on various occasions.
Festival Director Sheila McKenna said “These will be the last shows at Darvel Town Hall until at least autumn 2016 and we hope that music fans will take advantage of enjoying our two fantastic concerts before we all have a well-deserved rest!.”
