Fresh from appearing the previous night with his band Four Winds this singer songwriter from Dublin took to the stage with bouzouki in hand and proceeded to enthral this sell out audience with some wonderful Irish folk songs.
Daoiri Farrell is a very accomplished entertainer with his mix of music and humour. In this very intimate venue he was in his element. Clearly suffering from a sore throat he showed true professionalism as he sang and played his way through songs and tunes including, “Mickey Dam” “Bound For Van Diemans Land” “Fergie McCormick” and “Creggan White Hare”. The audience loved this performance and when Daoiri put down his beloved bouzouki and sang an unaccompanied version of one of his hits, they gave a very a rapturous applause which was thoroughly deserved.
Having been present at his concert the previous night I was worried that he may use the same humourous tales in between his songs but I needn’t have been concerned as he had plenty of material in his repertoire. He is as natural a storyteller as he is a singer. With a clear and pure voice and excellent playing skills this young man has a big future ahead of him.
