Celtic Music Radio’s Album of the Week -2 Sept 2017 Ashes & Dust – Winter & Wilson
Winter Wilson (Kip Winter & Dave Wilson)
Until 2012 Kip & Dave were hard working , high powered workers in ‘joined up’ jobs and with a most loved ‘hobby’ – music !
Cutting loose is the preserve of youth, right? How many couples do you know who in their fifties get made redundant, take to the road in a VW camper ( “Tallullah”) and turn to making music? Scots/English duo Winter Wilson did just that!!
After meeting at an Irish session back in the 90’s their love of the music brought them together and the went out giging on a small scale and released a couple of very well received albums (Cutting Free – as a nod to the redundancy ) “Tallullah” and her owners recently covered over five thousand miles in six weeks on the first leg of their “Ashes & Dust” tour which took them all around the UK, over to Germany and then around Ireland.
This year alone they have ten week tour of Australia and New Zealand (“Tallullah” – was left at home on that trip!). They are a firm favourite at the Glenfarg Folk Club and appeared at their 2016 Festival and are looking forward to Scottish dates in 2018!
