The Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week commencing Saturday 14 December 2013 is from Edmonton, Alberta’s own prairie balladeer Scott Cook with his new release One More Time Around.
Scott Cook is a tirelessly traveling songwriter who brings honesty, humour, years of roads and a deep love of humanity to his songwriting and storytelling. Celtic Music Radio’s Bill Morris chats to Scott about his music and new CD.
His straight-talking tunes weave together folk, roots, blues, country and soul influences, whether stripped down to fingerpicked acoustic guitar, banjo, ukulele, and foot percussion, backed by his 5-piece electric band The Long Weekends or in the company of his acoustic trio the Second Chances.
He has been making a full-time living at music since 2007, traveling the continent while living out of his van and is currently touring in support of his fourth solo album, One More Time Around, which is this week’s Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week.
Canada’s premier roots music magazine Penguin Eggs calls One More Time Around “as much a manifesto as a musical work,” teeming with “wry observations and hopeful life lessons.”
This is the last Album of the Week for 2014. The next two Saturdays, 21 and 28 December 2013 will be a review of all the Albums of the Week during 2013.
Album of the Week, Saturday 14 December 12 noon and 12 midnight and Monday 16 December at 6.00pm and at Catch Up anytime.
