Album of the Week – Starry Skies “Small Wonders’

Written by on August 6, 2022

There is a spritely and engaging range of tracks on the latest album from the Glasgow-based collective, Starry Skies.

With confidence and ease they deliver up-tempo classic rock, power pop and folk pop plus gentle ballads in an irresistible mix. Warren McIntyre – as always – is in fine voice no matter the material or the pace of delivery for the songs that are boosted by thoughtful lyrics.

Small Wonders is their fourth studio album and the product of a crowdfunding campaign – early reviews have dubbed this hearty 10-track collection a “masterpiece” and their strongest work yet.

It was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by legendary engineer Frank Arkwright (Arcade Fire, The Smiths, New Order, Coldplay, Oasis, Primal Scream, Blur, Mogwai, Bryan Ferry, Scott Walker, The Charlatans.)

• Album of the Week Show with Warren Starry Skies in conversation with Nikki Lyle at midday and afterwards on Mixcloud.
