This weeks Album of The Week on Celtic Music Radio is Ireland’s own singer / songwriter/radio presenter/author and producer – Colum Sands with ‘Song Bridge From Sat 13 June 2020 – all songs composed by Colum.
Colum is one of the members of County Down’s own Sands family – Tommy , Ben , Annie and of course Colum. As well as singing with the family and solo performances, Colum set up his own Spring Records in his own studio in Rostrevor and to date has recorded over 100 albums from artists from Joan Baez and Pete Seeger to Ireland’s own Cara Dillon, Keiran Goss , Liam O’Flynn to name but a few . His own songs have also been recorded by numerous artists from Andy Irvine/ Roy Bailey/ The Clancy brothers & Tommy Makem/ Mick Hanly / June Tabor.
Colum has also recorded with other artists , such as Maggie McInnes
It is fair to say that he has gigged all over the world with the Sands Family and as a solo artists , is is a welcome addition to any festival, folk-club and concert he appears in.
Colum is also involved with the Sand’s Family in his local but world renowned Fiddler’s Green – this year would have been it’s 34th year.
