The Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week commencing Saturday 27 October is the new CD from the big band Session A9.
One of Scotland’s finest folk ensembles are back with a dynamic new self-titled Session A9 album.
Session A9 are seven leading Scottish folk musicians who first came together in 2001. Renowned for their energetic sets, the results of this CD are stupendous.
The band have successfully toured Scotland and England playing at many of the major music festivals in the UK including Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and many more. European festivals include Ortiguera (Spain), Tonder (Denmark) with additional concerts in Switzerland, Italy and the USA.
Session A9 are Charlie McKerron (fiddle, backing vocals) who talks to Ross Macfadyen about their new album of this week’s programme. Session A9 also includes: Gordon Gunn (fiddle, mandolin, backing vocals), Adam Sutherland (fiddle, backing vocals), Kevin Henderson (fiddle, backing vocals), Marc Clement (guitar, lead vocals), Brian McAlpine (piano, accordion, backing vocals) and David “Chimp” Robertson (percussion).
