The Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week commencing Saturday 10 August is Breathe, the new CD album from The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and features in the week of Piping Live! in Glasgow when hundreds of pipers descend on Glasgow for annual piping festival, now in its 10th year.
The new album Breathe presents an “edgier” Red Hot Chilli Pipers performing their driving, energetic takes on rock music and traditional Scottish & Irish classics. Those of you into their world famous “Bagrock” will not be disappointed!
Since they walked away with the top prize on UK primetime television talent show, ‘When Will I Be Famous’ in 2007, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers haven’t stopped for a breath, other than to inflate their bagpipes!
Formed in 2002, The Chillis (pictured left in action on stage) have fast become a global phenomenon, taking their signature ‘Bagrock’ sound to the masses and rocking far-flung shores from New York to Beijing and everywhere in between with their unique fusion of rocked up Bagpipes and clever covers of popular songs from all genres.
Their positive contribution to the popularity of bagpipes has been recognised by the biggest names in the bagpipe fraternity:
“You’ve made the pipes cool for kids!…Cheers Chillis” – Robert Wallace, Principal of The College of Piping, Glasgow.
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers sound is a fusion of traditional pipe tunes and contemporary anthems. The Breathe album is released on 9 September 2013.
