The Celtic Music Radio Album of the Week commencing Saturday 15 December is from Glasgow band The Public House Orchestra with their festive offering called ‘A Country Folk Christmas’.
Celtic Music Radio’s Ross Macfadyen talks to band leader Paul Hughes about the album, gigs and the Glasgow music scene.
Paul presented a regular late night programme on Celtic Music Radio during 2010-2011 until work commitments put a halt to that activity. We are hopeful Paul will find the time to return to Celtic Music Radio in the future.
The Public House Orchestra is a two piece band playing all types of roots and acoustic music from blues and soul to folk, country and rock and even the odd bit of dance music thrown in.
While they play their own material they also do covers sets to prevent some of their livelier audiences from falling asleep in their Pimms!
The band includes Brian Dillon (on double bass, vox), Paul Hughes (Cajon foot drums, guitar, vox).
The Public House Orchestra’s Christmas Album is out now. It’s a rootsy, acoustic, Hank Williams take on some Christmas classics that reached number three in the Amazon Country Chart.
It is available for download everywhere including at Amazon. Please note this is the rebranded, remastered now on high quality CD version of the “Cathkin Braes Ramblers” issue.
