Album of the Week – Mairi Campbell ‘Living Stone’

Written by on July 20, 2024

Personal stories and cultural concerns are what MAIRI CAMPBELL uses compellingly as inspirations for her evocatively distinctive songs.

A pioneering Scottish musician and an interpreter of Scots song, this album – co-written with musician and producer Dave Gray – is a taster for her Edinburgh Festival Fringe Living Stone show premiere next month, which is the final instalment of her Pendulum Trilogy.

It is being staged from 1st August at 5 pm and every alternate day till the 25th in The Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Mairi, who is the recipient of six national music awards and was inducted five years ago into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame, is taking time out of her busy schedule to chat about the album and the performance with Liz Clark on the Album of the Week Show today.

• ALBUM OF THE WEEK SHOW – Mairi Campbell with Auntie Liz Clark – Saturday, July 20, 2024.
