Album of The Week – Jacob Dinesen – ‘Let The Hard Times Come Nov 14th 2020
Join Auntie Liz at 12pm on the 14 Nov when she will be in Conversation with Jacob Dinesen on Celtic Music Radio’s Album of The Week.
His music is American rock inspired by Celtic folk music.!
Jacob Dinesen from Denmark is just 25 years old, but writes songs and sings like he is twice the age. Jacob Dinesen is a young storyteller with an incredible voice and an old soul. Auntie Liz first interviewed Jacob when he was only 15 as an emerging young artist at the Tønder Festival.
He plays an Americana inspired crossover between rock, folk and country. He grew up in Tønder, in the rural area of Denmark. Far away from the big cities. Jacob took his first steps on the soil of the Tønder Festival (Danish Festival of folk, roots, traditional music and Americana), which has influenced and formed him ever since. Allan Taylor was highly impressed by Jacob and became a mentor to him in his embryotic years.
Back in Denmark Jacob Dinesen has released 4 albums, been certified gold and platinum, and is on heavy radio rotation. He is selling albums in a time and market where everyone else is counting streams. He has also been selling out shows all over the country the last 3 years, playing venues and even arenas, along headlining festivals.
His debut album, Count the Ways, was released in 2015. It featured the songs “Dancing Devil” and “Will You Stay”. He really broke through in 2016 when the second studio album ‘Brace Against the Storm’ was released a year later. The album was well received in the music magazine GAFFA. From this album also comes the songs “Roll with Me” and “Jessie”, which were played a lot on i.a. DR P4. The album went straight to number 1 on the Danish album chart and sold over 10,000 copies, which certified it gold. In 2018 he released ‘Found It’ and of course this his fourth album ‘Let The Hard Times Come’
Besides Denmark Jacob Dinesen has also played Americana Fest in London, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Faroe Island. Not bad for a kid who grew up as far away from the big city as possible in the rural area of Tønder, Denmark.
In 2020 Jacob gave his band a rest, and head out on a solo acoustic tour. 28 solo gigs hitting the first venue he ever played, and then moving into bigger halls.
