Avocet stated ‘We are very proud of this album, it took a whole lot of work and love’. Sam Uel“Iona single-handedly carried a harp, 2 guitars and a chronic fatigue ridden Samuel onto a ferry across the stormy sea to the Netherlands all for your listening pleasure! Come to think of it she also carried me around 12 cities on our first tour. If it wasn’t for Iona there would be nout to look back on during my ill health. (Cheers)”
Avocet is a musical trio from Scotland, based in Glasgow. Drawing inspiration from both the psychedelic folk scene alive in Britain during the 1960’s and 70’s, and free form blues, they create their own compositions on harp, guitar, double bass and vocals. Their music has been compared to that of artists like like Nick Drake, Pentangle, and John Martyn.
They signed to Mike Records in2017 who recorded and released their singles – recorded Abbey Road Institute in Amsterdam. Avocet have performed on BBC Scotland, and at an array of festivals and venues including Celtic Connections and Eden Festival. They were the Danny Kyle Celtic Connections Award winners in 2017. They have also performed The Hug and Pint, King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, Teviot, Nova Scotia Folk Club, Fyne Festival and Sofar Sounds Edinburgh.
Building a wide spectrum and staunch fan base built up over the past three years the release of their full album can only add to their growing fans and admiration for their work
‘A must album for everyone’s collection ‘
