Leading pianist Steve Hamilton wrote this his debut album while in recovery from major surgery during lockdown!
Steve – born in Aberdeen, Studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston where he graduated in 1995, for the next 5 years he moved to London where he became a member of Bill Bruford’s quartet ‘Earthworks’.
Steve went on to perform and record with a stunning array of musicians such as -Freddie Hubbard , Ray Charles, Pee Wee Ellis Assembly, Joe Lovano, Kurt Elling, Fred Wesley, Bob Sheppard, John Scofield, Gary Burton, Joe Locke, Van Morrison, Dennis Rollins, Martin Taylor, Carol Kidd, and The NDR Big Band and has appeared on over 40 CDs to date.
Between the Lines is dedicated to Laurie, who died in 2013, and features Martin Taylor MBE and saxophonist Paul Booth, whose quartet Hamilton plays in. Guitarists Don Paterson and Davie Dunsmuir, Hamilton’s colleague from the Billy Cobham Band, also made stellar contributions.
