AOW Alan Jones ‘The Man That I Am’ 7th Sept 2019
Listen in at 12pm on Sat 7th Sept 2019 to Alan talking to Auntie Liz about his new album
Alan Jones is a well kent face on the Scottish Music Scene. Having taken up the guitar at an early age – I believe at 9 ! The encouragement and inspiration of a good teacher / tutor ensured that Alan was on the road. Moving from Glasgow to Dundee he cut his teeth on a very discerning audience, launched him on his musical pathway.
Alan moved back down to Glasgow / East Kilbride where he performed in many an amalgamation of groups. He started to write after the prompting of the late great John Mcreadie and has continued to write ever since.
In recent years he has performed with the stowalts – Haggardash ! Gigging prolifically around Scotland and the UK and for 20 years a standing gig at the Ballerup festival in Denmark and is of course a firm favourite at Folk Clubs and Festivals.
With this new album, comprising of all self penned songs, Alan hopes to add to his gigging list, as as solo artists. These well crafted and emotive stories weave a tale of some of the ‘interesting’ people he has met, been told about or just arrived in the song.
