Album of the Week – Rose Room ‘It’s Been A Long Long Time’

Written by on April 12, 2025

Award-winning jazz ensemble, ROSE ROOM are celebrating their 15th anniversary year – and their latest release, It’s Been A Long Long Time, marks their creative time together perfectly.

Led by award-winning virtuoso violinist, vocalist and broadcaster, Seonaid Aitken with Scotland’s No.1 guitar maker Jimmy Moon on double bass, Danny Kyle Award-winning Tam Gallagher on rhythm guitar and the exceptionally talented solo guitarist Conor Smith, their music is rightly praised for being vigorous and vivacious.

The Glasgow-based band, lauded for serving up their 1930s ‘Hot Club’ standards, gypsy jazz favourites and self-penned originals, started out in May 2010 rehearsing in Jimmy’s living room, hoping for a few pub gigs.

Fifteen years later, they have headlined major jazz festivals, played with legends of the genre and had their music featured on national radio. As Rose Rome themselves admit: “Not bad for a band with humble aspirations.”

They will be in conversation with Liz Clark – Auntie Liz – about It’s Been A Long Long Time, their fourth release, on the Album of the Week Show today at midday.

• ALBUM OF THE WEEK SHOW – Rose Room speaking with Liz Clark – midday – Saturday, April 11, 2025.
