Bob’s On Song For Christmas

BOB LESLIE

Station presenter Bob Leslie has released the single ‘On Christmas Day’ to brighten and put his mark on the festive period.

It was a mad dash to get the record out as Christmas was less than four weeks away at the time he started it all.

He actually wrote some of the lyrics back in the 70s but they suddenly sparked the idea for this seasonal ditty all about family, friends and memories.

After roughing out a basic backing track, Bob was lucky enough to attract well-known singer, flautist, and clarsach (Gaelic harp) player Pauline Vallance and Scot-in-Australia accordionist Annie Neville to the project.

Bob, a songwriter for almost 60 years who presents Transatlantic Conversations each Sunday on Celtic Music radio, explained:

“Annie emailed her contribution across the continents, while Pauline took time out from her very busy itinerary to drive 30 miles in the pouring rain to handle backing vocals and flute duties before rushing off to catch the ferry to Belfast for a gig.

“I am hugely grateful to them for doing this at very short notice.”

A speedy week of recording, editing, mixing, and mastering and ‘On Christmas Day’ is now released.
