As finalists of last year’s Danny Kyle Open Stage, one of the prizes is a supporting slot on one of the main stages of this years Celtic Connections. The Chaplins proved they were worthy of the big stage. They used this opportunity to show this sell out audience how good they were.
With their blend of Americana music with a Scottish twist The Chaplins are a thoroughly entertaing outfit. Jill Jackson is a born entertainer and leads this four piece band wonderfully. With exquisite harmonies and foot stomping music their already growing fan base grew considerably more on this evening in the Concert Hall. Songs such as The Rambler, Robin Hood, Whisky is my Only Friend and I Got Out Alive the crowd warmed to this band more and more.
Having already released an EP, Introducing The Chaplins, and supported the likes of Runrig I have absolutely no doubt that this band have a massive future ahead of them. If you get the opportunity to see them live I would grab it with both hands. A word of warning though, do not be late into their gig as you will miss some wonderful music and Jill will not miss you and highlight the fact that someone has come in late!
